Low-Cal Diets, Are They Safe?

Some dieticians claim that counting calories and using a low-calorie diet is the best approach to reducing your weight. The formula of reducing the calories we consume while increasing the number of calories we burn in a day equals weight loss. This is the basis for the low-cal diet. If you examine diets closely, most of them operate on the 1000 to 1500 calories a day basis. It is however, a wrong assumption that everybody can reduce their weight on 1000 calorie a day diet. The total number of calories required for you to operate is based on your current weight, your rate of metabolism, and how much exercise you participate in during each day. Taking all of this into consideration, what is the correct amount of calories for you may not be the same amount for someone else.

You can safely lose a pound of weight each week. When you initially start losing weight, you will lose water weight. So it will look like you are dropping more weight than that but it is only water weight. A dietician can assist you to find out the proper amount of daily caloric input that is right for you. You can also find out the amount you should take in if you wish to lose about a pound of weight each week.

It is vital that what you eat is nutritious and not just lower in calories. You still need to consume vitamins and minerals and enough protein. Protein is very important for strengthening your muscles, teeth and for maintaining proper skin tone. You should include protein sources in your daily diet. Before engaging in any exercise program, it is advisable to see a doctor. Your mind may feel like it can do anything but the body may say differently. Anyone starting a program should just do things gradually at first and then pick up the pace with other exercises as time progresses.

Is there really a connection between childhood obesity and fast food? The answer will change depending upon whom you involve in the question. Obviously the fast food industry would like to deny such an association. But parents will do well to consider the facts. Obesity is not merely a problem of how a child looks. And, of course, along with the hamburger comes fries and a soda, and possibly even a milkshake or dessert.

The link between childhood obesity and fast food gets obvious when you think about how frequently children consume these types of meals. Simply one fast food meal can hold an entire day’s worth of calories. A youngster that eats these meals many times per week or more than one per day can mean they’re literally consuming thousands of extra calories per week.

The number of calories that an individual will normally consume at a fast food restaurant is an obvious connection between childhood obesity and fast food. If a child is active sufficient to burn the extra calories it might not be a problem. But many children nowadays live very inactive lives, sitting in front of the TV during their spare time rather than being outside playing. While the connection between childhood obesity and fast food is obvious, the food isn’t the only perpetrator or cause to the problem. A parent would do well to get their child up and active in order to preserve his or her health.

Most of their contents contain sugary foods and sodas. It’s not unusual for youngsters to eat literally thousands and thousands of excess calories every week. This, even if it doesn’t appear as if anyone is binging.

These common causes of childhood obesity can be treated by any responsible parent. There’s no need to go to extremes and anticipate that your child to become a star athlete or to never have a hamburger again. But being balanced and moderate can go a long way in this regard. Addressing these causes of childhood obesity may be as easy as going for a walk after dinner as a family or taking a bike ride on a regular basis. Provide healthy and nourishing foods at home to balance out the extra calories children get when on their own, and your child should maintain a healthy weight.
