We are all looking for safe diets and tips that will help us lose weight without killing ourselves in the process, right? Here’s one pointer that many of us overlook but it is a tried and true factor in ALL safe diets.

In safe diets, water plays a huge role. The theory that water will help you lose weight is widespread, popular and generally accepted. As part of our safe diets, we can use all the help we can get, so let’s investigate further.

It seems simplistic, but safe diets are all about one thing, burning more calories than we take in. Sounds easy enough, how does water fit in?

Zero calories means that you never have to think twice about having that refreshing glass of water. It should become a daily habit cut back on other beverages and drink more water! Water helps safe diets in several ways that most of us have never considered.

First…it contains no calories so you can have as much as you want! No added fat there! A glass before mealtimes will help to fill you up faster – so you eat less.

Second…Water helps hydrate your blood, assists in live function, cleans the kidneys and flushes out the toxins that have been building up in our bodies. The general well being and health benefits are almost limitless.

Third…If you, like most of us, have been feeling tired, sluggish and prone to headaches for most of your life – it’s probably because you don’t drink enough water. Your brain functions are enhanced by drinking water through the day and it eliminates many of those symptoms. A glass when you first wake up in the morning will kick start your brain and make you feel alert and alive.

All safe diets tell you to eliminate sugar based drinks. Carbonated sodas, sugared fruit juices and so on. What to drink instead? Many of us reach for diet drinks, but they contain chemicals that are VERY bad for you. Water is the answer of course.

Carbonated beverages are full of not only sugar – and sodium, but also include a bunch of other artificial ingredients and food colorings. Most – if not all – of all the “added” ingredients are bad for you. Some are carcinogenic, others screw up your hormones, some mess with your brain cells, caffeine is addictive, etc.

If your diet includes them, it’s not one of the safe diets and you should stop right away. They’re just empty calories that pack on the pounds and offer no nutritional value. It is a challenge at first, but once you are weaned off them, you’ll never return.

Some of us don’t like the taste of our water. If tap water isn’t to your liking, get a water filter. (Probably a good idea to get one even if the water tastes ok.) Or, you could buy commercially available spring water.

Try several brands to find one you like. Different brands don’t taste the same.

Keep in mind that water is NOT a substitute for food. It’s a supplement. It is possible to drink enough water so that you are not hungry and you start skipping meals, but this is not a good idea. No safe diets would recommend this approach. But, when tempted to reach for a soda or sugared fruit juice – go for the water bottle instead!
