A simple search of google will pull up the results of hundreds of websites selling Acai Berry products, and even more blogs and forum posts warning of the huge array of scams out there. There are surely scams out there, just like any other industry, but there is a host of legitimate services out there which give products that are proven to work, for the end consumer.

The first tip is to avoid sites which make seemingly stupid claims. The old adage that it’s “too good to be true” is probably totally correct in such circumstances, and a basic level of common sense is essential to separate the “wheat from the chaff”.

If a site is saying you can lose 20 pounds in a week, not only would such a loss be ridiculously unhealthy (putting a strain on your cardiovascular system, for example), but lose such a large percentage of one’s body weight is largely unattainable.

Another tip is to avoid “free trial” sites unless you’ve seen a go-ahead by a trusted source as they can often lure unwilling and unknowing customers into monthly subscriptions which aren’t advertised anywhere on their respective sites. To combat this, thorough research is needed, and the best place to do that is through impartial resources. Sites like this review sites and only suggest and promote services that are proven to be legitimate ones.

All else failing, make sure that you keep an eye out on your credit card account on line, and that you use a credit card with online fraud protection and good customer care. This way, if you do get injured, it isn’t the end of the world and you will be able to recoup your money. If you’re like me though, this is all a bit of a bother for a supplement I haven’t even got to try yet, and as a result I’ve seen that step 2 is the most foolproof.
